A BRAND ABOUT BRANDS

SomethingSomethingOriginal

Every great idea is built from parts you've seen before. SSO takes the familiar, takes it apart, and puts it back together as something that's unmistakably its own.

What's Inside

Originality Facts

Nothing is made from nothing. Every font, every format, every familiar shape on a shelf is a remix of something that came before it — a reference, a reaction, a riff.

SSO is built on that idea, on purpose, in the open. We start with the recognizable and bend it until it says something new.

The work that comes out the other side isn't a copy. It's a conversation — with the thing it started as, and with whoever's looking at it next.

Fresh Take · Sealed For Quality

We don't pretend the shelf is empty.

Most of what gets called "original" is really just a familiar idea wearing a new coat. SSO doesn't hide that — we treat it as the whole point. Recognition is a head start, not a shortcut. Once something feels familiar, that's when the real work begins: finding the angle nobody else bothered to take.

This site is the wrapper for that process. A growing shelf of experiments, side projects, and client work, all built the same way: start with what's been done, take it somewhere it hasn't gone. Switch the packaging above — the words don't change, but everything around them does. That's the whole pitch.

Privacy Policy · A Third Place

Privacy Policy

Effective June 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information A Third Place ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.

Information you give us

  • Account: your email address, a password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), your name, and a username.
  • Profile: an optional profile photo, bio, city, and interests you choose to add.
  • Content you create: places you save or add, lists you make, reviews and ratings you write, photos you upload, and who you follow.

Location

If you grant location permission, we use your device location to rank place-search results nearer to you. Your precise location is used in the moment to improve search and is not stored on our servers. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the app — your account, profile, saved places, lists, and reviews.
  • To power social features — your public profile, public lists, and reviews are visible to others according to the visibility you choose.
  • To improve place and address search.
  • To keep the service secure and to communicate with you about your account (for example, password-reset emails).

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • With other users, according to your chosen visibility (public profiles, public/collaborative lists, and reviews are visible to others).
  • With service providers that operate the app on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, and hosting) and Mapbox (place and address search — the text you search and your approximate location are sent to Mapbox to return results). These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
  • If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Your photos

Photos you add to places, lists, or your profile are uploaded to our file storage and may be shown to other users where that content is visible. Only upload photos you have the right to share.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated content (saved places, lists, reviews, follows, and uploaded photos). Some records may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and database access controls that limit each user to their own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can access and update your profile in the app, and delete your account and data at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To make a request, contact us at the address below.

International processing

Your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, provide a notice in the app.
